Brick Built Chimney
Brick chimneys are clearly recognisable by a chimney stack and pot on the roof of a property. Brick built chimneys are suitable for any of the fires included in our shop.
Pre-Cast Flue
Pre-cast flues comprise of hollow concrete flue blocks which create a flue up through the property, usually terminating with a ridge vent on the roof. Usually found in modern homes, pre-cast flues are suitable for a wide range of slimline fires.
In addition, a number of deeper fires can be adapted for pre-cast flues with use of a spacer kit. Outset Radiant, Outset Living Flame, Inset Gas Fires and Hole in the Wall Fires are suitable for Pre-Cast Flues.
Pre-Fabricated Flue
A metal flue box situated behind the fire connects to a series of metal flue pipes running up through the house, terminating with a pipe and terminal through the roof.
Suitable for most fires, pre-fabricated flues are deep enough to take most of the deep models and all of the slimline styles. Outset Radiant, Outset Living Flame, Inset Gas Fires and Hole in the Wall Fires are all suitable for Pre-Fabricated Flues.
Can’t See a Chimney or Flue?
If you do not have a chimney or flue you will require either a Balanced Flue, Power Flue or one our Flueless gas fires or portable heaters.
Powerflue
Power Flue fires use an electrically driven fan which is either semi recessed or surface mounted on the outside of the wall to expel the flue gases.
Balanced Flue
Balanced Flue fires use a horizontal pipe to vent directly outside. Balanced Flue fires are glass fronted and no mains electricity supply is required.
